is this flywheel resurface-able?

Im doing the 5speed swap and got a flywheel w/ timing ring attached from the wreckers
I checked all the teeth on flywheel and timing ring and they look good (no knicks or chips etc) except that its super rusty so im wondering if its still useable

The one I had looked worse (conversion parts). They resurfaced it and came out fine. The shop didnt mention anything to me indicating that it was too messed up. Just clean the surface rust off as much as you can with a wire brush and sand paper before you take it in.

It'll be fine. Rust typically removes almost no thickness, and it will be completely gone with even the thinnest skim cut.

As long as that flywheel doesn't have gouges, scoring, cracks, or it hasn't been remachined multiple times, it will be fine.

yup i planned on doing it, its just that iver never seen a flywheel so rusted before lol and i didnt know at what point a flywheel becomes unuseable
So i guess ill just bathe it in brake cleaner, use some fine grit sandpaper on it and take it to a shop.
Only shop i found so far wants to charge me $90 to resurface it because its composite metal or something. Is that the usual price point or should i shop around?

hahaha, I recently payed $50 to have a 'stepped' flywheel resurfaced, and that's sooooo much more complicated! I'd shop around, and the point it becomes unuseable is, well there is usual a manafacturers spec for the minimum thickness, but dave hit the hammer on the nail or however that saying goes, you'll be fine
