Who has the loudest system?
#1
I'm in the process of upgrading my system. I just went to a sound off on saturday and hit 139.5 db(before the amp shut off because I had to "ghetto" rig it to work since my Alpine face was being fixed) with a KICKER DX700 running 2 KICKER XPL 12's. I have since replaced those subs with 2 KICKER Solo Baric 12's in a vented box - I know it is louder but I have not had it tested yet.
Who else has gone to a sound off or had their system tested to see just how loud it gets? Please post the dbs you got and what you had when you got it.![hat](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/hat.gif)

I was at a sound off and I saw a third gen maxima, where the guy was serious about it. He had no trunk room and no back seat. He had 4 15" JL subs, someone mentioned that he hit 148+db before.
I'm not into super loud, but I think I could go loud.
System:
Stock head
Cadence 8 band parametric EQ with 5V preouts
: I love it cause I can control my subs from the front
MTX 4160 - for inside speakers
MTX 3002 - for subs
MB Quart Componets all around
2- 10w3 JL Audio subs

I don't know #'s yet, but I have 10" kicker solobaric l7 in ported box, sounds MAD loud compared to other 12's I have run (sony's, mtx's, ) BUT I have 2 15" XPL's sitting in boxes at my house waiting to be thrown in the trunk. I am also running a Kicker DX700 amp, and so I expect HIGH #'s from my 2 15" XPL's, if they dont perform, its 15" Solobaric l7's for me... I'll let you know when I get home and put the XPL's in.

what that means is...
What that means is they have placed in their car special materails (u could say kinda like carpet/rubber) lining their trucks doors and anything that could give off a vibration. When you actually hear a sound deadend car it is really quiet kinda like going from a honda civic to a lexus...much MUCH quieter but also it makes the acousitics sound better....

I hit 136 db at a dbdrag this past June with my single Orion HCCA in a vented enclosure. That was my first competition with the HCCA and since then I have found that I used the wrong test tone frequency so I could probably have scored a bit higher. Also, I didnt remove my rear speakers which I have heard can give 1 or 2 dbs since it allows for more pressure to enter the cabin. I also havent had the time to experiment with positioned my woofer in different places such as towards the back of the car-- as Ive heard of people firing the HCCA through the passthrough in a MAX.
I used to have 2 Audiobahn AW1200s in a sealed box but I sold them because they were deteriorating and they took up my entire trunk. The set-up I have now takes up a little less room but Im thinking about going to two subs again since I can only get so loud with one sub. Also, competing with one sub at anything but an IASCA event (dbdrag, MAXUS) doesnt help my chances of doing well.
I thought I was ready to step into the world of sound quality and make due with just one sub but everytime some fool in a civic rolls up next to me with 3 JLs, I start wishing I had more bass. It's a total Catch-22: I want to have big bass, but I dont like the look of the rear end of my ride sagging in the back - especially since Im lowering in a few days.
Car audio is addicting.

I don't like Maxima trunks ..
Getting sound from the max trunk to the interior has always been a problem for me. The highest I was able to get with that was around 142, and involved me using a 6 foot^3 box ported to 40hz, with 50^2 of port space.. The thing was a beast. If you just want pure loud, get a 1000+ watts of power, and take out your back seat. With 70+ inches of port space, and the right frequency (usually 10-15Hz higher than tuned freq. Mine was 40hz, I played at 53Hz).. If you do it right 150dB+ is pretty easy to hit. My only complaint was the fact everything in the Max rattles at 150dB =). Fortunately you can't hear it heh.

Ok this really doesn't have much to do with this thread, but I thought soloberics could only be placed in a sealed box or else you run the risk of really ruining them. . . I know I have one and that was what I was told by a lot of people, but were they wrong?

solobaric in sealed box...
solobarics were designed to be able to run in very small amounts of space.. but they sound AWESOMEEEEEE in HUGE ported boxes, like I am talking giant. I had a representative for kicker (actual employee) build me a box they had designed, 3.25cf for 1 10" Solobaric L7. The thing was CRAZY loud for 1 10"... like it was louder then my 2 12" sony xplods and 2 12" mtx's
But I decided I need some REAAL bump and am going to 2 15" xpl's![Smilie](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I would DEFINATELY do ported box on the solobarics... they are expensive (around 200$) but are WELLLLLLL worth it. BTW I have my 10" box fs, 90$ takes it.. cost me 195$ new
