paint y-pipe

I live up north and we deal with allot of salt during winter. I'm buying a aluminized y-pipe. I was wondering is there a strong heat resisiting paint I can spray over the y-pipe that will help slow down or minimize rusting and brake down?

I second this thought. Then you don't have to mess with painting it.

What is you reason for buying aluminized?

oops i thought he already had the pipe..

i would def. buy a stainless steel

but for rust protection of your frame or something like that, por15 will work. I painted my grandpa's jetta frame and it has lasted for 3 years in NH

+1 high temp heat paint. duplicolor makes a high temp ceramic paint (good to 1200 degrees F) as one of their engine paints.

VHT high temp paint, good up to 1500F i believe. I have a aluminzed y-pipe and i gave it a good coat of the flat silver, looks good, theres no rust minus on the flanges i missed lol..the paint has been on for about 4 months, and id say 8-10,000KMS. been through quite a few snow storms, and salt/road grime and still loooks good. the best thing is, if you get one of those polished stainless steel ones and you go for VI its going to attract there attention right away. Flat silver looks pretty OEM and wont attract as much attention as anything polished.

Yeah, or mix brown and red high temp paint and apply the "Rust Color" evenly. They'd never know.
