heater gone wrong

ok so I know its been cold out lately, but my problem is that everytime I leave my car idled the heat dies out and it starts blasting cold air through the air duct, but whenever I press on the gas the hot air comes back again, just wondering what is wrong if u guys have any answers that would be great... thanks

restricted heater core. you can do a prestone Super Radiator Cleaner Treatment, Back Flush it or take it to a shop and have it flushed. (In that order from best to worst in my opinion).

sounds like poor circulation that gets better when the water-pump spins a little faster, gotta agree with both 2damizzax and sounbwoy, however you didn't mention that you checked the coolant level in the reservoir and the cap, you probably did but if not I'd start there first.........

does it have anything to do with the fact that I have a line that is leaking from the coolant tank... haven't found out where its leaking from but it definately leaks out coolant when I add a new batch in

left out a little info?

yes that could be it if the leak is causing an air bubble. Have you checked the level in the rad as suggested? start the car with the cap off. let it warm up. fill it up and watch the bubbles.
