I think there is certainly a mentality here that Newbies are not to be taken as seriously as the veterans. I'm not saying that to cause a big stir, I'm just posting my observations. I would say that most people here treats everyone, newbies or veterans, with the same respect, but there are those who do bash newbies. On the other hand, there are also newbies who give the veterans a hard time too. Ah, to return to the days of Andi's or Chad's BBS with AtBBSt....that would be sweet.

But if someone asks a stupid questions, and someone is nice enough to post an intelligent answer, and the original poster still does not understand, then I see certainly see how people can get annoyed at such posters (I'm not necessarily referring to newbies).

Definitely there is a discrimination! People tend to take Newbies differently than veterans. Eventhough some Q?, answers of newbies are intelligent ppl still take it slightly less than of the veterans. So therefore I think we should change "Newbies" to like "Member", "New owner of MAX", etc...

You are 100% right. Just do a little search before posting a question and you'll come up with all the answers you need.

haha that one was funny
well the only thing with newbies is sometimes they post the most ummm....'amusing' posts... yea people are harder on them, but well its kinda like being nice to someone you know or not...
and besides... me being a'fanatic' i'm such a newbie compared to the real vets of this board.. and its just as easy for me to post a stupid question... and what more could i expect than a really 'smart' answer...
me personally i try to be nice to everyone, stupid questions are only stupid questions... not stupid people... well maybe not always

dont worry about it, if you post a bunch real fast you will become higher ranking in no time, and they will never know, dont ask about the front bumper conversion bc i am tired of answering it, and for fun ask people about stuff like altezzas bc there is somewhat of a hatred from this group and i think its funny to watch them get offensive about the subject

Doesn't really matter how many posts you have. I can reconize a newbie by the question. Vets get ****ed at answering the same question all the time.

I like repling to Altezza posts becuase someone keeps trying to justify their $250 purchase

Exactly. It's pretty obvious when someone posts a newbie question that is so simple you don't need a pro to answer it. Something like "what type of gas should I use" or "how often should I change my oil"....all those answers are in the owners manual, which by the way, has much more information than even most "pros" know on this message board.

I think we should open up a new forum called "RTFM" and transfer to there all questions where the answers are in the owners manual.

Um, Jeff, don't forget that those Alteezas not only look cool, but because they are also brake lights they slow the car down in 10 fewer feet. That's why they need to be clear, to attract attention from other drivers to show them you have good brakes. And given the correct wind conditions I'm sure they also add around 5hp, since what good are brakes if you can't go fast. Hehehe....

the cicle of life

Just as the college professor needs his students, the vets here need us newbies. Sometimes to pass on their knowledge, and sometimes just for amusement. Some of us (me) just ask questions that are a bit on the dumb side. It's the same as being new anywhere.

I love this place

Some of the fun in asking and answering questions here is to hear the smack that goes on like the guys above and the Altezzas. My screen name says newbie even though I have been here for over a year. For some reason I had to re-register. I don't worry about it too much. I put in my two cents when I have an answer and I get my questions answered back. No better place to be when your dealer won't touch performance parts...

sniff sniff. You guys are like family to me. sniff sniff.

All newbies @ one point

I don't get the big deal, if you don't like the questions newbies ask then just ignore the post and let the people who are willing to help reply. I find this place to be great since I found out about it month back but I wouldn't concider myself a newbie even though my title says so. I've done mods that others ask for help with and I ask for help when needed. If I really wanted to move up the ranks fast, I'd just do stupid post like this...
