Flywheel Insert Falling Out!?

In the middle of my 5 speed swap today and finally getting the tranny into the car.....the tranny slips a little bit and i notice i dont see a pressure plate. So I lower the tranny and the damn insert that attaches to the flywheel came off. After 3 hours of getting the tranny onto the car and this hapens It Appears that it only attaches to the flywheel with 3 pins same as a pressure plate alignment pins. What do I do to fix this or just anyway cause I sure as hell don't wanna go out and spend more money on this project. Any info/tips will be appreciated.

I don't understand what you are trying to say. If your talking about the 3 inserts on the flywheel it is there only to align the pressure plate not hold it in place (its not even needed actually, you can just align all the hole pattern by sight). The pressure plate bolts onto the flywheel, so I don't know how it could be gone. Unless of course you didn't bolt the pressure plate to the flywheel. Come on, don't tell me that.

he means the part that the clutch rubs against fell out with the pp attached. the part with the starter ring and bolt holes, is still attached to the motor. im workin with him, and there was many 4 letter words said after this happened.

You mean it's not trapped and locked in by the PP bolts?

ya, i didnt the pp bolts would hold it. i thought it was secured another way. there are matching holes on the starter ring and the flywheel insert but neither is threaded.

Found out what was wrong. There are no bolts that sandwhich the flywheel to the insert. They're 9 bolts that go from the back (closet to the engine) that go throuh the flywheel to the insert. And I have no way of getting bolts till at least thursday
