DO any of you use shims on your rear pads? The last couple of pads I have bought have nubs that seem to catch in the grooves of the rear caliper pistons--you know, the ones you have to turn with a tool or needle-nose pliers to get them back in. If they turn to go in, don't they turn to come out? If the nub is on the pads, wouldn't it be preventing the piston from rotating out? Or is it there by design? Or should shims be used in the rear as well?

Nevermind, I found my answer. It IS necessary, and the notches need to align with the nub...

That's right. I just did a brake job on another car and was banging my head as why the caliper wasn't aligning. Than I looked at the nub and a light bulb lite up in my head. But, its designed to fit into the groove of the rear caliper piston.

Yeah it took me 15 minutes to realize that nub had to allign correctly to get the brakes back together. Felt like an idiot haha
