Sticker/Emblem Problems.

If the dealer thing is only a sticker, gently peel it off - DO NOT TRY SCRAPING OR EDGING IT OFF. After this, go to Food Lion and buy a product known as "Goo-Gone". It will VERY EASILY remove sticker guck (even tough glotchs). If is if an emblem, stick a blade in and gently pry it off. Use Goo-Gone here also. If you shave the emblems, you would be able to use some super-glue and put them back on, but don't think they will be sticky. If you have a 97-99 Maxima, the Maxima emblem is all one piece and will be easy to put back on. If you have a 95-96, it will be hell to align and put the old individual letters back on. Let me WARN YOU: Lots of people who shave their emblems do a very bad job and have the trunk re-painted. I would reccomend you take it to a professional, so if they screw up they pay for the paint job. Just trying to help.

I'm thinking of using fish line to remove the emblems instead of just prying it off. Do you think that'll work? Because I read something related to this subject before and that person mentioned using floss to slowly peel off the emblems.

Sticker/Emblem Problems.

That actually might work, although you might want to try the dental floss too, because it is probably thinner than fishing line. Just be careful and if you see the paint come off with the first one, stick it back on!

How did you actually use the fishing line? Did you use fast or slow motions? I'm planning on doing this to my trunk this Sunday. Also, did you have any paint peeling off?

just a back and forth motion going down. when you feel the line getting stuck, keep going from side to side but dont apply pressure going down cause it will break. the letters should come off fairly easily, the nissan emb was a little tougher. its not that easy to take out the glue thingy though, just keep at it.

also you can use a hairdrier/heatgun and heat up the amblem a little which makes it easier to get floss off

shaved my trunk today

It took approx. a couple of hours from start to finish. That hamburger sign was the hardest clean off.

Shaved on blue max?

I can't make up my mind whether I should shave mine. I got a blue max and chrome color kind of looks good on blue. What do you think?

My car is deep evergreen and it definitely looks much cleaner w/out the emblems. I think it would look even better on your car because it's blue.

Step 1)heat gun/blow dryer.
Step 2)Dental floss/fishing line.
Step 3)goo gone/lacker thinner - lacker thinner works faster
Total time was 25 minutes. All, and I mean ALL, maximas look better with the emblems shaved off. The color doesnt matter - it just looks cleaner with them off the trunk. If you take them off and dont like the look you can glue them back on. Use super glue or apoxy. Just BE CAREFUL when you are taking them off - it is about $300-500 to get just the trunk lid itself repainted. Have fun and take your time.

Me neither, plus TONS of people ask me what kind of car it is. I love telling them it is a special edition maxiam - they are too gullable, they believe me!
