Hi
A mechanic told me that I should clean the injection system of my max. Can I just buy one of those bottles that you add to the gas tank to clean the injectors or it has to be professionally done??

Also, my car has 52k miles. The mechanic also wrote "attention" regarding the radiator fluid and fuel filter...can I just wait till the 60k tune up to do everything at once or is urgent that I get those 2 changed ASAP?

thanks

I've had good results with fuel injector cleaners, the kind you put in the gas tank. I recommend it where there is a clear indication of an injector problem. I don't recommend it for use as a preventive measure. Does your engine exhibit trouble symptoms which may be caused by sticking injectors? If not, don't use a cleaner.

IMHO all name-brand fuel injector cleaners are equally good at cleaning injectors. Techron claims to also clean carbon deposits from the stems of intake valves. Certain engines -- older four cylinder Toyotas in particular -- have this problem. I've never heard of it in the VQ30DE engine used in our 4Gen Maximas. For this reason I would not pay the higher cost for Techron.

Does your engine exhibit trouble symptoms which relate to the coolant or the fuel filter? If not, wait until the 60K service is done. Nissan specifies coolant replacement at 60K but not the fuel filter, so the filter is optional.
