Garbage Ebay Intake

I learned my lesson the hard ways guys and I just want everbody to know. Stay away from those poor f#cking designs intakes from ebay. I just got home from work, opened the box and inside was something I would never place on my car in a million years. This thing is so bad I cannot even give it away!!!

Not that I was planning on buying one, but would you care to explain your reasons for being so harsh on them?

I have purchased aftermarket no named products before and never had a problem. But when I open a box to see poorly welded, cheap intake tubing and overall poor quality I have to say something. But I guess for $ 39.99 shipped, I got what I paid for and I will never buy a intake or anything else from that company again. As for pics, I just reached home and I wil try to post pics in the future. Its funny, I purchased performance rotors from a company on ebay and they were great. However the intake is totally different story.

It was the cold air intake you drill the 3'' hole in your fender.

really though, how much structural integrity does an intake really need? As long as it's air tight(welds don't leak), fits properly, comes with all needed components and doesn't fall apart or bend after install, what is the big deal?

But you may be right, for 39.99 shipped who knows. I'd still like to see just how bad this peice of garbage really is...

I got one off there and it was cheap and not the best quality..but performed just like the others would. All it basically does is add sound anyway, so mine sounded cool while I HAD it.

The way its looks on the wbsite and what i saw in the box is night and day. the welds for the vacuum lines were done so poorly you see cracks in them. I really cannot imagine somone placing this in box a shipping it to someone.

one point i would like to make: if you take the cost of a good, quality brand product, divide that by 3, if the cost is way lower than that on ebay, it's a no go. for instance: injen tech intake around $275. $275/3=$91 in your case, you paid just under half of that; the 1/3 cost. "you get what you pay for."

thats true, the intake doest have to be made out of aircraft alluminum. as long as there arent any leaks, its a solid piece and has the fitting needed, it will work.

The only reason why i purchased the intake from ebay was from a thread I was reading a couple of months ago from the org. I figured I would give it a try for $40 and here I am, very disappointed. As far as me placing that intake on my ride, not a chance. If any body in the long island, queens, or brooklyn whats an intake pm me.

why don't you install it and try it out. Buy a K&N intake to replace the cheap intake. If you don't like it, just use your K&N intake as a WAI.

Well, I can see where broken or cracking welds would be a problem, but in my experience, regardless of the vehicle, an intake is pretty much an intake, assuming that the body stays together as it is designed.

I have seen a lot of "cheap" intakes supplemented with a good, quality filter and have never heard of a preformance problem. Again, this hinges on the filter quality.

You may have gotten a bad part, but most eBay intake purchasers seem to be pleased with the cost/performance ratio.

I got an ebay CAI which i ended up using just the midpipe and filter from. It was out of round with sloppy welds. No big deal, i filed and sanded the welds and rounded it out a little. Basically just good enough to be as good as it needs to be for what it does...

My ebay intake from ebaY is fine, even the chrome finish wasn't messed up when I got it. It came with the MAF adapter, bolts, nuts and everything I needed.

Cost= $45shipped...

I would buy another one.

man, you just picked the bad on out the bunch... i had one with like a blue pipe and it worked out great, the only problem i really have, is that some of the intake has like 3 air output from the pipe and some has 4, i can seem to figure out why i need 4, so i just block it, but other than that it's great

thats gonna be so much of a hassle, first you have to write to them then wait like a day or 2 for a reply, then tell them your gonna send it back for an exchange, then wait for like a week or 2, it's too much, ill say still try the one you have, afterall this bad ebay intake is still an assumsion

Don't let this one bad experience stop you or anyone else. A lot of people have good things to say about these intakes, and ebay is not as bad as people make it out to be. There are a lot of good deals to be had. Besides, the OP didn't even TRY the intake before knocking it, just assumed it was crap by appearance. So take this all with a grain of salt and then go for it!

wow strange that u are beating them so badly all they did was take all of the research that cattman did and put it in a lower budget range.... take a look at catman and it is the same design maybe a little different here and there but very close to the same

o well if u really needed the intake i guess u got it but truthfully unless u are doing forced induction than u really dont need and intake....
and the only reason i say that is because how efficent the stock ones are

well best of luck in the future on that

btw here is the link to cattman's intake
http://cattman.com/img/prod/dsc_0445...20g5%20cai.jpg

and here is the one for the e bay one
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-96...QQcmdZViewItem

now dont get me wrong i stand by cattman all the way because they are proven and are the ones that did all of the research to making the intake
but there arent that many differences....sorry bud i say try it out and than comment on it....and the only reason that i say that is because most of the peeps that get intakes get them for the NOISE!!!!not the performance because if u really wanna get technical it is cheeper to supercharge ur car than buy yourself an intake (dollar for HP ratio)

so check out matty he makes great plates
