low idle and beginnings of a misfire(need help badly!!) car needed asap !!!!
hey all i just got my car back from replacing the ac compressor and now i notice that **** is idling quite low about 500 and i have a def engine vibration at an idle even when i raise it with the gas up to 700 and hold it. I think that one of my coilpacks may be going bad . the car has 84k on it, but what would cause the low idle. this low idle condiotion came on after i reset the ecu after the compressor change. any ideas???? im thinking knock sensor, coil packs or even oxy sensors

it's not the KS. could be a number of other things. wait for a code to show. just to be clear, it missed before you reset the ECU?
about the AC compressor - what happened to it? did it seize, or was it noisy? did they flush the system & put a new drier in before the recharge? a new drier is needed to absorb moisture introduced to the system when it is opened. if they didn't replace it, you will have compressor problems again. if the compressor seized they should've replaced the condenser as well, as the little bits of metal cannot be completely flushed out, and will chew up your new compressor in about a year. also, the amount & type of compressor oil is very important and must be measured (not just injected along with R134 as in the DIY kits). in-case you have compressor issues again go back to the shop and demand they fix their work. most places do not fix AC systems the right way, and they fail again. just an FYI.

the car had a semi low idle before the reset. on cold nights when warm the car would sometimes idle at 550 now its all the time any temp outside when the car is warm its at 500 or less and when i shift and get back into the gas the car has no power then the power hits and the car bucks then goes. its sucks. as for the compressor it was the external bearing for the pulley and the shop that did it did the right job so im not worried about that

i dont want to raise the idle as it was fine before so something is making it idle low. also on the 97 thats not how u do it with the ecu. but tonight we were messing around with the car (my friend is an ase tech) and we couldnt find jack. we have no cel. he thinks it may be the egr valve. were gonna get some vacume line and try to see if we can make it close tomorrow. also how hard is it to change an egr valve.
also when the car is idling and i tab the gas it briefly dips in revs and the goes up. its like the car is loading up then when it clears up it revs up and it runs fine. i drove it for about 50 miles today and the only time i can tell it has a problem other then idle is between 1500-1700 it has a minor miss that u can barely feel when ur cruising down the road.
its missing so badly at an idle ive checked the coilpacks and injectors by pulling them off as the car runs one by one and none seem to stick out as being bad

when was the last time the plugs were changed? it wouldn't hurt to give the car a little loving and give it a little tune up if it hasn't had one lately. clean TB, plugs, fuel filter, clean IACV all those usual things.
if you think it may be EGR related check the tube for blockage, but then again that would usually result in a high/low flow EGR code being thrown

IAC Valve. How did you clean the TB? Last fuel treatment and which one? What year is the max? Are you feeling the rough idle when the compressor is engaged? It does put an extra load on the motor when on (or when the front defogger is on). glad you dont want to just adjust the screw.

Have you run it for ghost codes or do you have a CEL? What year is your Maxima? Im thinking that its a coilpack/injector. If you haven't changed the coils yet, now wouldnt be a bad time to do so. (especially if your car is a 99)
