Fuel Gauge not working - ideas?

I'm going to be checking the fuel level sending unit in the fuel pump this weekend with a multimeter, but if that reads ok do I have anything else to check at that point?

I just bought the car Tuesday and the guy filled up the tank so it read "Full".

I've driven it about 100 miles so far and the thing is still right at the "F" mark.

Either it is broke/slow or I'm getting unbelievable mileage!

well you not getting unbelievable gas milage. so the gauge could be stuck, sticky, or just plain broken.

If the sending unit is in proper working order, just replace the gas gauge and that should fix the problem. Once the gauge cluster is out it will be a few small bolts to get the gauge out. Check the wiring behind the cluster too for any funny business

This is my third Maxima, and it's been the same story on every one of them. The guage reads full until 100 miles and then drops like a rock. It worked like this on my 94, my 99, and now my 02 is the same thing. I fill it up, sticks at full for the first 60-100 miles (depending on how I drive) before it starts to fall.

Mine does the same thing bro! Whenever I think i'm going to make it to 300 miles for a full tank it drops like a rock after 3/4 and i wind up with my 200-250 miles per tank.
