RT Cat as opposed to a Stock One?
#1
Whats the difference? I am removing my stock cat right now, and puttin on my RT Cat, but I don't see much of a difference. The stock one even seems to have a larger diameter. I have a Cattman Y Pipe, and a Greddy Catback, so would this kinda help it at all, or did I spend 220 bucks on nothing?
BTW someone help me out with this. I need to know what size bolt, and nut to used on the cat. The stock one has studs. Someone IM me Via AIM soon, or post here ASAP.

Can't remember the bolt size off the top of my head, but I know you'll notice a difference after you break the new cat in. I basically have the same setup as you and I noticed. Not as much horsepower but more torque. If you search around people have dynoed the improvements with your setup. Also for the bolt, just put something that fits into both the cat and the ypipe. Somewhere around 14mm sounds right.

Blah. The RT cat isn't worth much at all. I got it to reduce some resonating and so my car would be a little more emissions compliant.
I don't believe the dyno results of the RT cat one bit. It is impossible to gain that much torque with so little hp on a 3 liter V6. If it was a low revving turbo diesel it would be believable, but not on a high revving V6. Sorry. My car was no quicker with the RT cat as tested at the track. If I truely gained 12 fwtq, I would have been much quicker. When looking thru the barrel of the RT cat, it looks EXACTLY like the stock cat. This is another reason I don't believe the hype.
And to add fuel to the fire, the internals on my RT cat are now becoming loose and rattle when the cat is cold. This has always been a problem with RT cats.
