After changing a coil...
Soo, I just posted about the 0505 cel code and today i was able to get it to toss me a 06 04--cylinder 5 misfire. So i pop all my coils out just to take a look and sure enough...cylinder 5 made my head turn. The rubber @ the end of the coil pack remained in the hole and gave me one hell of a sunday. Anyways, i went to auto zone and picked up a brand new coil, started her up and she idled a little high at first since it was freezing out but i guess what threw me off again was the fact that the idle slowly rised at first but then went back to being normal. Took her out for a spin and in all honesty she ran so well that i was impressed because I haven't felt that lost power for a while.
As always..one problem ran right into another one. Now whenever i even turn the key for the ac to go on it makes a weird low zzz noise for about 5 seconds then goes off. Following the noise i was able to trace it to either the same coil i had just replaced or the other big unit right above it (half of it is brown i believe?) that is held down with those 2 annoying screws and just loved to get in the way of things. Can anyone point out what that unit that is? I just reset the CEL and won't know til tomorrow whether or not it wants to throw me another code. I guess im just aggravated at this point because i thought i had just fixed it and don't see how the hell this noise can start coming out of no where. Any takers?

big unit as in black round thing? if so, that is a part of your EVAP system (Evap canister purge control valve) and shouldnt be doing anything because of your AC. The metallic portion futher back towards the firewall is the EVAP Canister Purge Volume Control Valve). when you pulled the coil, did you pull the plug also? didnt even know AZ sold coils for our cars.
yup and believe it or not i did do a lot of research before stepping to autozone for a part. Everybody's coil thread i saw a lot of "never had a problem". Anyways when i meant ac i just meant even turning on the first igntion turn for power. Either way its just bugging me since i just thought I finally fixed it. I tried to think about everything i did but i cant think of anything that would have caused this, i was pretty gentle with everything.
oh ok. never really noticed if those buzzed or not. If you have no CEL for the EVAP system, I wouldnt worry about it too much. If it is excessively loud, look at the hoses and make sure there isnt a kink i something.
How much was the AZ coil?
How much was the AZ coil?
uhm it was the rear bank, cylinder #5 and it was only like 70 with tax. Didnt look cheap either, if you use the google search and hop around some coil threads you'll see a lot of the peoples opinions. I was going nuts trying to figure out whether or not it really was the coil .. then this came up and it was actually relieving to have it over with knowing its fixed lol
