1. You can't search because you haven't donated to the org.
2. If you're talking about 8k HIDs don't waste your money.
The higher kelvin you go with HIDs the more color you get. The more color in your headlight the less light output you get. If you're going to get HIDs get less kelvin. 4300-6k are the best IMO. Also try to search around the org before posting.

you wont. 8k is not how bright they are. It's kelvin. It's basically the color of the light. The higher you go the more color. 8k is blue/purple. It's a complete waste of money because you won't be able to see 50ft in front of you car with purple lights, let alone in the rain....won't see ****.

7-8k is factory BMW tempurature. blue/purple is 10-12k 3-6k = yellow- yellowish. the closer you get to UV (higher the Kelvin) the more the light will be absorbed by the water in the air. Thats why yellow fogs work best and 12k HID's suck in the rain.

For OEM applications, NO ONE uses ANYTHING BUT 4300K or 4100K bulbs. If you hear otherwise from someone, they're talking out of their ass or are repeating info they got from someone else who was talking out of their ass. Some HIDs look bluer because of the prism effect they get from the projector. That is all. 6000K+ put blue light on the road that is invisible in the rain and unsuitable for OEM applications.

So take out your headlights altogether? Why do you want HIDs?

Oh sorry, you want to blind people.

if you arn't going to listen to what people say then go buy what you want...get 8500k HIDs. When it does rain, and when you actually see your light output to blind people, you'll be quite unhappy.

I got the headlights, but I told them to change the HID to a 6k, since thats the lowest they had, and plust the R34s have horrible output so the brighter the better... but haven't installed them yet, its too cold and I have no garage lol

aren't ultras, "Silverstar Ultras"? It's just an upgraded silverstar.

Well that's what they want you to believe. But you can only "upgrade" so much on a 55watt blue-tinted bulb.

exactly my point. It's marketing. Without changing the name, no one would think it offers anything better. No one pays attention to the fact that the bulb is still the same wattage as before.

If 4.3K bulb is puts out more visible light than an 8-10K bulb why is 8K bulb is more expensive?

I could only think of two reasons: marketing or higher Kelvin bulbs are more expensive to make. Anyone care to elaborate?
