I didn't read every post because i'm at work...but if you did all the suspension work (balancing, etc.) and you still have the shimmy...welcome to the world of Nissan . This is a common problem on our car. It never goes away. I rebuilt my entire suspension and got new rims on my first max and I still had it. Welcome.

Do you see any weights on the outside of your wheel? If the answer is no then most likely the wheel isn't dynamically balanced. A way to tell if you have a balance or alignment problem is to rub your had across the tire tread. If you feel any sharp edges or uneven wear than you have a problem. An alignment problem can cause a shimmy if both wheels are equally toed in or out, the steering wheel will still be straight but the tires will wear the outside or inside edge of the tire.

I went back to the tire shop and told them the problem they didn't know about after they balanced and rotated my tires.

The passenger side, originally on the left-rear, has so-called "cuppy", uneven wear on the edge of the tire. According to them, that's what causes it. It wasn't so easy to notice since that was on the rear. It's been 700 miles, and nothing got better. Maybe it'd take me a bit longer.
Cupping is caused by a wheel alignment or balance problem. If the tire is cupped it will be noisy.

IlyaK Thank you for the advice, although I refuse to give up on the 'perfect' balance. I rented a car a few months ago, on no-good alloys and it was perfect, just to rub it in. Given the money already spent I am taking heynow's suggestion on the control arms and the bushings.

I think you are right. I had my control arms and tie rods inspected and they checked out ok. I went and got a high speed balance and since then the vibes are minimal. It is very slight now. It's definitely alot better than it was. I think it is just a Nissan thing.
