97 Max SE: Recently I have noticed a noise coming from the front passenger side strut area. When I drive over small bumps, the strut makes a squeaking/rattling sound.

The noise started about 2 weeks ago when I accidentally drove over a double set of railroad tracks at highway speeds. The elevation of the road quickly dropped off about 2 feet after I hit the second railroad track and I heard a loud thunk from the right suspension. I think the suspension topped out when the road elevation dropped and then bottomed out once the weight of the car hit the pavement again.

Has anyone else had suspension problems with the right front suspension area?

I have access to a floor jack. Is there anything I should look for or check once I lift the vehicle off the ground?

Is it possible that I need to replace the strut or any other linkages?

Any comments or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

jack the car up.. look around the strut to see if its leaking oil or anything... turn the wheel while standing still see if you hear any clunking noises... that would mean the spring is not seated right and that would be a quick 1 hour job to fix with the right tools..
