Catalytic Converter Options?

So I'm replacing my y pipe with a CE y pipe and catback with megan catback (this deal still in the works please let me know if I should stay away from megan).

I was wondering if I should replace the catalytic converter as well. I heard it's easier to just replace the whole thing at once, but I was wondering what my options for a cat are and what would fit into the system I'm looking at now.

Please help.

if your staying with 2.5inch pipes no need to replace it unless its bad. high flow cat wouldnt really give as much of a gain as it would a hole in your pocket. if you still want to replace it, make sure you dont get anything smaller than the stock cat because it will overheat and eventually clog and need to be replaced again. do NOT buy a universal cat.

Ok I always argue that buying a cat is worthless. The truth is that if the cat is still in good working condition you do not need to buy a new cat. But if you're replacing the entire system at once I would say go ahead and buy a cat. You can get a good one for $50 or so. I posted in the newb area on your post as well stating to stay away from megan. I think it sounds awful. Just way to rice for my taste. If money isn't an issue get a cattman catback. Best quality stuff. Otherwise I would say Greddy.

Lastly, you should look in the exhaust sticky for some more info on this stuff.

Well I've read the exhaust sticky extensively, but it's very limited on the Megan catback which is what I was wondering about after seeing it on ebay. I just wanted to see if any orgers had some experience with the catback and had some feedback to pass on to me. Thanks for answering cdg. So where did you hear the megan? Have you had one before?

I found these clips of exhausts and I want to get some second opinions.
The first two are megan, then cattman, then sp1

The Megan's sound nice & deep, but love the sound of Caesars Max w/
full Cattman exhaust!

too me the Megan isn't deep at all. I've seen all those clips and it was a pretty farty sound to me. Of course its an internet audio clip so its not that great, but so many other exhausts sound better. People just think that because it's cheap its a good way to go.

I thought the caesar's cattman sounded a little farty in revs, but it sounded really nice when it took off, but he's got headers too which I won't have.

I initially didn't like the greddy sp2, the one in the vid doesn't sound too good, but I recently heard some that sounded pretty good. What's the con with these? What does cattman have over sp2?

where do i find cattman prices and ordering info?

greddy sounds good. I've never heard a farty cattman ever. It's the quietest exhaust besides stock. Cattman is just overall the best quality pipes. That is what is has over everything.

The Megan sounded kinda deep, but that was on the vid clip. Don't know how it sounds in person, nor do I care. I have the LSS y,b, & OEM muffler
and it works for me.

Yeah I'll be going to stock muffler with new tip when I actually get my y-pipe. sp1 muffler will be way too loud.

Once you get the stock muffler, be sure to paint it flat black with a few coats of paint & get a 3 in. tip...

yep thats then plan. Probably Magnaflow SS 3" tip. Should be able to find a cheap muffler but I don't have the y lined up yet so no rush.
