1. With the ignition key in the OFF position, press and hold the two outside buttons, and release when the indicator light begins to flash (approx. 20 seconds). This procedure erases the factory set default codes and does not have to be followed when programming additional hand-held transmitters.
2. Hold the end of the hand-held transmitter (from the device you wish to train) approx. 2 to 5 inches away from the surface of HomeLink keeping the indicator light in view.
3. Using both hands, simultaneously push the hand-held transmitter button and the desired HomeLink button. DO NOT release the buttons until step 4 has been completed.
4. The HomeLink indicator light will flash first slowly and then rapidly. When the indicator light flashes rapidly, both buttons may be released. The rapid flashing light indicated the Integrated HomeLink Universal Transceiver has been successfully programmed.
To program the remaining two buttons, follow steps 2 through 4.
If your garage door system uses a "Rolling Code." There are different instructions. Hope this helps.

Go to Maintenance and click - then just select "Programming..." . It's for a 95, but may still work.

just as an FYI, the homelink for 97 and 98-99 are slightly different. the homelink on the 97 does not support the newer code hopping transmitters and the programming instructions might be slightly different... i'm not sure but remember seeing something somewhere 'bout the differences.

I have a 98 and I got mine working with my garage door opener which has "rolling codes." The instructions were just a bit different, if I remember correctly. There should be instructions for the garage door opener that tells you how to enable it on your homelink device. I don't have my garage door instructions on me, but if I find them, I'll post them up.
