how to re-fill auto tranny?

I installed my auto with the 3.5 and i'm trying to fill it up but i understand that the pan only holds 5 or 6 quarts of tranny fluid...so do i have to have the car running while fillling up the rest of the fluid? I put in 6 quarts and it started leaking outta something down there.

thanks

Shouldn't leak out anywhere. Fill it up with the car on through the dipstick hole.

Might not be, but it never leaked before (I replaced the pan awhile back but not the gasket, never leaked like that though. Wasn't sure if maybe I overfilled the pan.

Check cooler lines too...

Gasket is an easy enough change.

Also how will a stock auto hold up to a 3.5?

Mine probably won't hold up well at all, it wasn't doing too great with the 3.0 and 00vi...
I am planning on 5 speed swapping but couldn't get one soon enough..so hopefully within the next couple months.

You might check the dipstick tube. Maybe it is loose where it goes into the transmission. Remember that the torque converter will still hold some fluid so it might be over filled and leaking out from the base of the dip stick tube.

I would say that the tranny will not last without a cooler and vb mod.
