How f*ucked am I

I was driving down the highway and I hear a clunk and I see something in my rearview mirror. As I'm driving I see my battery, brake, and CEL lights on. I get home look under my hood and I see one of my damn pulleys was GONE. I didn't notice any difference in the driving of the car after the clunk. How f*cked am I and what do I do now?????

Which pulley, tensioner on the accessory side? Just get a new one, three bolts to r&r.

well, which pulley was it? If it was just your idler pulley that's not too bad, but if it was your altenator that's kinda pricey...

That same thing happened to me not too long ago.

It's an easy & quick fix for the idler pulley.

Its the idler pulley. would I be able to drive to the store to get it or should I leave the thing alone until I get another?

you can drive without it just don't go too far too long cause your altenator won't be recharging the battery. and you won't have AC either...

Yeah it'll feel a bit more powerful not spinning all those pulleys! I know, broke my idler pulley putting on an UDP.

So it would be ok to just leave it as is and drive to work(40miles) and autozone tomorrow for a new pulley?

40 miles... you might make it, depending on the condition of your battery, but I wouldn't chance it. I'd hitch a ride to work.

hell no!!
don't drive 40 miles on battery power!
and if you have a charger i suggest you hook up the battery before driving anywhere just to make sure you start with a full charge.
If your battery dies while going down the road your engine will stop, you'll loose power steering (if you're in an automatic) and if you're not careful you'll loose your brake assist (if you hit the brakes and let up and hit them again). Not fun anywhere. It happened to me when my alternator died. Luckily I was in the neighborhood still.

It's possible? I think it's a dealer only part. About $43ish. Took mine about 3-4 days. I'd bring an extension cord and a battery charger with you if you're gonna use your car!!

I don' tthink I can find my packaging but the name of the part was Idler Pulley Assembly I think. You will not get the bracket so you want to make sure you still have yours or get it too.

Instead of asking pointless questions, spend 20 minutes studying that area and you'll know what we're talking about.

There's a bracket that holds the pulley on the car, it's held there by three 12mm bolts. If you don't have it you will def need it!
