Windshield replacement

I have to get my cracked windshield replaced and was just curious as to what the average cost was for any 4th gen owners and if the price was for a new or used windshield and installed or not. Unfortunatley in the local junkyards there isnt many max's and if so they are charging alot so im hoping to see whats fair and what isnt.

dont get used, get a brand new one, shop around, get ur phone book and look up auto glass installers call them all in ur area.

Trust me a Brand new windshield will make ur car feel new again when u drive, before i bought my max it had a long crack on its windshield, they had to replace it in order for it to be sold and pass safety. it looks amazing, just like a new car.

Expect to pay around $250
Also it will be a liitle cheaper if you don't want the oem molding and go with a universal molding.

Labor around here is $40 for a windshield and the list price on the windshield is $187. The list price is where the flucuation in price comes from. Oem molding is $40 aftermarket molding is $10

a lot of installers will require you to get new molding since a lot of times if new molding isn't used, you will get air coming in when you're driving. So i suggest you get new molding

if u happen to pass by nyc, go to willets point near shea stadium...cost me $115, brand new glass...they did an excellent job, no air coming in...dont get a used windshield from a junk maxima, cuz when they take it out of the donor car chances are itll break/crack while pulling it out

I got my friends 96 accord's replaced for 240 from safelite after I jumped through his car (a whole other story). They came to his house and replaced it right there in the parking lot, very quick, very easy, I'd recommend them if you are too lazy to drive it or if you can't drive the maxima.

I called a few places and got $185 installed from one place and $156 + an extra $37 for the mouldings if needed from another place. Now should I assume that the place that didnt mention the mouldings will include new ones if needed in that price? Or play it safe and ask 1st?

Don't installed safelite glass in your car no matter what the price is. if you need glass install a PPG or LOF brand glass. safelite materials are cheap.
