Dear Daniel B Martin Code 0704
#1
My car is bugging out, just before i went to fix the O2 sensor the vent controll and the purg cont/v one more code came up so i want to know what it is(0704). I am pretty sure the comt smoked up some of the fumes and was going crazy because i didnt fix the problems for a while.

I looked in the Sticky for Diagnostic Trouble Code 0704. I thought it was there, but could not find it... so I will post that information on this thread.

DTC 0704
Diagnostic Trouble Code 0704 points to a problem with the Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor. The EVAPCSPS is installed in the purge line. The sensor detects the pressure inside the purge line and sends a signal to the Engine Control Module. The signal voltage is directly proportional to pressure. The EVAPCSPS is not directly used to control engine operating parameters. It is used only to evaluate EVAP performance. Therefore a car with DTC 0704 should start and run normally.
The EVAPCSPS is located on the underside of the car near the left rear wheel. It is mounted near, but not directly on, the EVAP canister.
This malfunction is detected when the EVAPCSPS sends an out-of-range voltage signal to the Engine Control Module.
Possible causes include...
- harness or connectors (The EVAPCSPS circuit is open or shorted.)
- bad EVAPCSPS
- EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve is stuck open
- rubber hose connected to EVAPCSPS is clogged, bent, kinked, disconnected, or improperly connected
- EVAP Canister is damaged or saturated with water
- rubber hose from EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve to the water separator
- EVAP Canister Purge Volume Control Solenoid Valve

THANK YOU
Thanks for helping, this web-site would be useless with U Daniel B Martin and all the other nice people who waste their time to answer a question for a stranger.
IMPORTANT.....
The code 0903 come on again after cleaning it and Sh*t.
Before i went to get everything done code 0704 went off. I figure its all the same problem by the left rear tire.
1)The valve was stuck to the black box and i coulnt remove it so i will go and buy a black box. Right/wrong?
2) code 0704 has to do with emission and is located at the same place, but little closer to the front of the vehicle.
It is white, round and small with various tubes going in and out. Right/wrong?
3) Things i should do to solve the problem:
1-Replace Black box (evap....something)
2-Replace the valve (0903)
3-replace another valve (0704)
4-Replace O ring.
This will hopefully fix the d*m problem and i will tell people Maxima is actually a good car....But not et
Consider me broke as of Tommorow, If u care. Thanks....

This code will be added sometime in the near future. Unfortunately, I have to move A LOT of posts to get that "early" numbered code in there correctly, so it may take some time (couple of days) with .org being so slow while I'm on.
Daniel B. Martin is kind enough to e-mail me these codes and explanations, all I do is just throw them into a thread. It's not that much effort on my part (this case is an exception), but is more reflective of an effort on Daniel's part.

Bill, why don't you talk to Kev about creating an 'ECU Code' section in the FAQ. That should make it easier to add to an maintain than dealing with moving posts around.
