Lighter alternatives to stock muffler?

I'm sick of exhaust sound. Not that my exhaust sounds bad or loud, i just want silence. The stock muffler is heavy as hell and to be honest, sounds kinda homo with a Y pipe. Anybody have any suggestions for a stock-quiet muffler that's lighter than stock?

I'd go with the A33 muffler. And no, it's not the muffler that sounds like , it's that unequal length y-pipe you have on there.

Add a resonator for a smoother sound, if anything, but since that y-pipe is 'tuned' bad, you wont see much of a difference.

17.2 lbs stock muffler vs 10.6 lbs for my dynomax w/extension pipe and 3.5" tip. Every little bit of weight saving helps. Exhaust sounds like azz with stock everythign besides budget y pipe. Don't know how you could like the sound, my dynomax sounds 43253245234 times meaner.

nmexmax-i'm currently running stock b pipe for a while. I'll look into an a33 muffler, i completely forgot about those.

That's...not really possible

Best suggestion is the A33 muffler, as NmexMax said. I had that in combination with my y-pipe and a custom 2.25" b-pipe and it sounded great. Not loud at ALL. Had a great tone, but wasn't any louder than stock (unless you floored it, because it's a variable-capacity muffler and opens up when you get enough flowing through it). Now, lighter than stock, I dunno about that.

How much would that A33 muffler run price wise?

You can get a muffler with a silencer tip to make it quiet.

Sounds good, thanks for the suggestions guys. This is just a temporary solution, as i'm planning on some pretty radical mods soon. I think i'll look around for an A33 muffler, and look into the HKS muffler(s) for my future project.

I'm interested in why you switched from the Dynomax back to stock? I have a 17747 Dynomax superturbo on order to replace my rusted original muffler. I currently have the Budget y w/ magnaflow hi-flo cat & stock b-pipe.

The A33B muffler flows well up to 7100 RPMs on a 3.5L.

So I'm confident that a muffler will not be your bottleneck.

Oh don't worry about it, i switched because i wanted a VERY quiet exhaust. The budget y pipe/stock cat/stock catback/dynomax sounds great. You'll probably love the muffler if you like sound, i used to but i just need a break from it.

nmexmax-im not sure if you're talking to me or not, but i know the muffler isn't the bottleneck, lack of flow wasn't anythign i was worried about when switching.

on another note, i just put my stock muffler back on, and holy crap this thing is quiet as hell now. I don't know if it's the 00vi doing it, but it sounds WAAAAY quieter than my friend's car with the SAME EXACT setup minus 00vi. The intake is obviously a lot quieter because of the 00vi. I'm glad i switched back to somethign quiet, for some reason i enjoy the car a lot more now.

just hit a possom on the highway at 70+mph, so my stillen lip is no more....too bad i got it used.......

I hit a damn truck tire @ 75 MPH, same story, lip = deceased FTMFL, mine was brand new and had been on less than 72 hrs.

I wasn't sure if you knew that or not (muffler being bottleneck) just thought I would throw that out there.

Mine was on for a good couple months, but still sucks azz.....but i obviously got revenge on that SOB though ....upon further inspections, my fender got bent up where the lip was attached, and a bunch of paint chipped off the bumper....
