Hi, got my new tires and now the road noise is gone. But, now the rattle in my dash is deafening. Anyone have tricks to locate and remove a dashboard rattle? Seems to be from underneath instrument cluster.

My dash rattles my nerves as well...I haven't had a chance to fool with it yet, but it seems that if you were to find some graphite powder to lubricate between the plastic parts that are rattling (in mine, its between the dash and the Apillar), your problem would be solved...

RE: Dash Rattles...

I used to have a rattle coming from behind my guage cluster. I hit it a few time...the rattle got worse quick. Then I tried just pushed up on the dash (form the underside of the guage cluster), and I never head my rattle again. And don't crank your cubs too high either. Just trying to help.

I also have a dash rattle since day one 5 years ago. It's a very little one but seems constantly there unless I drive on a very smooth road. It never gets worse or better. I pushed the cluster up, down, knock it, basically no help.

Check the hose coming out of the heater area and going to the defroster vents on the top of the dash. I pulled the whole console looking for that one in mine and discovered that I could have fixed the rattle by just reaching under the dash on the passenger's side and moving the hose around until the noise was gone. It was really driving me crazy until then. Nice and quiet now!

dash rattles

I have the same dash rattle in my car too. The rattle is because of the black face plastic that is in front of the gauge cluster is loose. There is some play when I push or pull on it. It rattles the heck out when I go through rough roads...it makes the car sound so cheesy.
just wondering--anyone else have a loose rattle in the driver side door? there is a clunking sound (something is loose in there for sure) in the driver side door.

fantastic.

A lot of the trim pieces were rubbing together and making annoying little rattling or creaking sounds in my 95 gxe. I took off the problem pieces, like the trim around the shifter, and put some felt circles underneath them to increase the pressure between the pieces, minimizing movement and also the squeaky "rattles" or creaks. It worked pretty well.. when I removed my guage cluster I also put some thick foamy weather stripping stuff on the back of the black trim piece that fits over the cluster, that seemed to work. When I took the trim off my dash I noticed a lot of felt-like strips falling off, which were apparently glues around the edges of each piece to keep the plastic from rubbing together. Does anyone know where I can get more of this stuff? It's very thin and inconspicuous, unlike the foamy weather stuff.

I have a 2007 maxima and Im hearing a cricking noise in my dash. I hear it when I first pull off or I am going over bumps. The noise sounds like someone stepping on an old floor board in a creepy house. I've taken it back to the dealership several times and finally they told me that they had to tighten up my frame. The steering wheel felt tighter but the noise was still there. They even told me that all cars have there own noise, but my last maxima didn't. Could this turn out to be a bigger problem if we cant find what is causing the cricking noise?
