A PUSH GUARD? on a MAXIMA?? .. :-)

if i haven't already made my maxima out of this world rediculous... i wanted to poke the idea of a push/grille guard mounted to the front steel bar behind the front bumper.. hmm .. possible?? no one has ever even considered it.. but..... i'd say if you can stick one on a dodge intrepid or a crown vic...you can put in on a maxima.. would you just need a welder and some elbow grease?

Why would you want a push guard on a maxima to begin with? Dude you need to get a Crown Victoria or a LTD.

Well you might have to look at an upgraded suspension if you haven't already. Why? Because our cars are quite front heavy to begin with. You add an extra 150 or whatever on to it and you're gonna look like a Camaro but not in the good way. But yeah, probably have to weld it to the frame and cut around the bumper. Give it a shot. I know you're going for the cop car look so if you can pull it off, more power to you.

Why don't you go check out how they are mounted on the cop cars. Just don't say you want to impersonate them.

police issue vics mount to the frame under the front and come up to meet the top section just behind the grill. Wouldnt be too hard on a max, enough room.

You better be putting it on to use the max as a bumper car.

you can but I'm not sure how functional it would be on a unibody car...

cool feedback.. well i was planning on doing it.. just not sure of which guard to buy? ... would it matter? all guards on the market are "made" to fit their designated car.. of course that doesn't mean they can't be custom fabricated.. but.. with the front of the max already hunkered an inch and a half.. ? someone said the bar would be 150 pounds? really? i know they're heavy.. it wouldn't make it scrape in the wheel well though.. right?

I would say you're gonna add a minimum of 100lbs, with the brackets, reinforcement (which will be needed on the unibody) and the actual bar itself. Personally I think it would look foolish on a maxima unless you custom fabbed it well to the stock lines of the max. Don't think its gonna be that easy of a job to do right, unless you just want to hook it up stricktly for looks and have only enough support for the bar itself
just my 2 cents but you get into it you'd better give us some updates!!!
