CEL...Cat converter or O2's? HELP!!!

Hey guys...

I'm currently trying to sell my 99 Maxima GXE Cali Spec and have a CEL. I went to Auto Zone yesterday to have them pull my codes. Of course I threw 4...ALL 4 O2 SENSORS! He cleared the codes and everything was cool until my drive into work this morning when it came back on. I've been driving with the codes for a while as it doesnt seem to be killing my MPG or power, but obviously I makes it hard to sell a car with a CEL.

So my question to the all mighty and all knowing ORG...is what do you guys think I should do? Is it possible that a bad cat could be causing this? My WS Y-Pipe install went a little rough, so there was some patch work. Am I forced to basically go to the stealership and have them replace from the headers to the muffler? My muffler is brand new (in a failed attempt to cure my CEL blues).

Any help guys I would REALLY appreciate it. I have a sale basically pending that so long we can get a handle on or resolve this CEL problem.

Help me out guys!

THANKS!

DAN

Well did you not replace the sensors with the new y-pipe? With the less restricted y-pipe and increased air flowing through the pipe will lean out the sensors and fail them if they are old. So you pretty much prob need new sensors.

What were the exact codes??? There are several codes for each sensor. They all mean different things.

Did you go back to Autozone for a second test?? Most of the time codes will follow other codes...so the best thing to do is clear them and see which one comes on first and fix them in order of appearance. If all heater circuit codes come on then that could be a blown fuse...

I have definitely replaced at least some of the sensors since the y pipe was installed. Honestly I dont remember exactly which ones though.

I have not gone back to Autozone for another test, good idea though.

The weird part is when I look under the car I cant even find all 4. I saw a diagram in a previous post from a couple days ago exactly showing a 99 Cali Spec, but still cant locate all 4. Maybe i'll take some pics or something and see if you guys can find something I'm missing.
