is it the axle?

Ok, so I noticed a loud "thump" kind of noise from the front of the car. The car makes the noise when I am parking. For instance when I am reversing, as I steer the wheel to the left it makes a loud "thump" n my steering wheel jerks a little. Last night I also noticed the same noise and jerk when I release the brake pedal from a stop, but only when I quickly release the brakes. When I slowly release the brake pedal, there is no noise or jerk at all.

Do you guys have any clue what this could be? Axle? Strut mount?

Thanks for any input.

Have you replaced an axle recently?

The axle may not be "seated" correctly in the splines.

I haven't replaced the axle, as far as I know the axle is still from the factory.

Replace the sway bar end-links. Do both sides.
