Serious problems with BBK.

Alright guys I went and put a Cobra BBK on today. Now I got serious problems. I barely have any brake pedal which is air in the lines. But driving I get this horrible noise. It like a groaning noise. It continious. I think maybe my spacing is off on the caliper and is causing the rotor to not be centered. What do I do here guys? I have no car right now I need help ASAP.

Take off your wheels, use some lug nuts to tighten the rotor down and inspect your spacing. Get some washers and play around to get the spacing right.

Yea that what I was gonna do but Would this eliminate the noise if it fixed the problem? It was just an awful noise it sounded like my wheel was about to fall off.

Well, if the noise is being caused by the rotor rubbing on the caliper because the spacing is off, then fixing the spacing will make the noise go away. That is just one suggestion, you need to get under there and find what is causing the noise.

Well I had absolutely no noises until I added this. It has to be with the rotor and caliper as I know the dust shield isnt hitting or anything but Ill check it out tomorrow and see what I come up with.

Alright so today I went outside took everything off. I put the lugs on to tighten the rotor to the hub. I then installed the caliper but I did not see any spacing issues it is a tight fit. Pic below. But I also still need to bleed the brakes again and the noise wasnt there until I added the bbk so I dunno what to do. I need helps guys ASAP. I need my car this weekend.

Yea I have the wheels off now and have been turning the rotor trying to figure it out but I did not hear anything. When I am driving the car it an awful noise.

Also I noticed after I drove for the 1st time yesterday my rotors were burning hot. Like I couldnt even touch them. Is this normal?

Sounds like the rotor isn't being centered. You sure the wheels are clearing the calipers?

Have you driven it after you took those pics?

Yea the wheels clear. I have a finger gap between the caliper and spoke of the wheels. I am taking off everything and gonna start over. Ill let you all know how it goes in a bit.

Is the inner barrel of the wheel clearing the top of the caliper?? Don't worry about the spokes.

This happened to me, are you running 17s? I had to grind away some of the caliper to clear the inner barrel of the rim.

Just recently I realized I had my rotors on the wrong side when I swapped and placed the wheels back on and went for a spin I had the loudest noise imaginable. It sounds like a rotor, but most likely its your caliper rubbing against the inner barrel of the rim.

Put everything back on including the wheel. Keep the car jacked off the ground and spin the wheel around yourself see if it gets stuck. If so get underneath the car look at the brakes from behind the wheel and try spinning it around and see if it rubs on the caliper if so try and gauge where its rubbing on the caliper exactly, bust out a dremel and grind some of the caliper away.

I don't have the noise/rubbing issue anymore, I just wish I had some 18s for better clearance .

Well guys it fixed I am finally on the road. I was playing with the rotors and noticed friction and looked inside the caliper and noticed the rotor was swinging side to side so I took them off went and got them turned. Brand new rotors. Even though he didnt shave off much on the rotors. He said they werent warped much he just took off like .02 or whatever he said. Said most rotors being warped were atleast .05 however they measure the amount cut off.

Then I borrowed a pressurizer cap from him to bleed the brakes which works amazing. But after all that the noise went away which makes me believe the rotors were causing the noise.

But the brake is firm now and the initial bite is amazing. Now on a hard stop even with coilovers it pulls the front of the car down and it didnt do this with the other brakes. So overall I am very happy.

Pics will come later tonight.

Since when can you get slotted and or cross drilled rotors turned? I was always told you couldnt.

certain shops can, i think they have a special rotor machine. because most machiens have the single tooth cutter, that with normal slotted/drilled rotors it will just destroy either the cutter or the rotor. I had my cross drilled rotors turned before putting them on.
