spring boot, or strut boot?? all it does is keep the dirt off the top of the spring and strut. and, it keeps the grease around the top from getting dirt in it.

insulator, I think that's what its called. its to keep your metal spring from hitting you metal perch and making a racket.

It is a bumper stop. I keeps the strut from bottoming out and ruining itself if you drive in a pothole or whatever.

he said on top of the spring though, thats why I said it was the spring insulator. The bump stops are not on top of the springs.

I would say bump stop aswell. If you change your springs, I guess its recommended to shave these down a little. Which i didnt.... Doh!

Is it on the spring or the strut? If it is on the spring itself I think cardana24 is right and it might be called an insulator. I was thinking of the rubber thing on the strut piston itself INSIDE the spring.

I hope this is it... You're talking about the rubber piece that goes between the top of the spring and the strut itself.

Bump stops are on top of the strut.. Spring isolators are on top of the spring between the spring and the upper mount.
