I have a 95 5spd and just installed the IACV after driving with it off for a couple hundred miles.. (purchased the car with it off) Now when ever I put the shift selector into a gear (any gear) the rpm's raise from ~650 to around 1500 RPM. The RPM goes back down to normal when I put it back in neutral. Has anyone experienced this? What gives?

 

Running no IACV on a VQ30?

Any other details about the car? Is it running an auto ECU?

 

Well The iacv was hooked up and installed, but the source hose was blocked off because there was no intake installed when i bought the car. (Maf directly connected to TB)

Car is 5spd from the factory running a 5spd ECU.

 

Reset the base idle.(check stickies)

 

I couldn't find it in the stickies, but are you referring to when you unplug the brown TPS connector, rev it a few times and adjust idle via IACV screw?

I did it last since I used the TB screw to raise the idle since I had to drive the car home w/o an intake, and that's when I started noticing it.



Anyone have an idea why the idle goes up after I unplug the reverse lamp indicator connector from the trans? (That's the only sensor that can tell if the trans is in gear)

 

Bad ground? Maybe that and the IACV share a common wire?

Im pretty sure it is, but I will check. The last owner dropped in a 96 engine with out adjusting/touching anything.


Could it be that I need to use the 1 connector TPS instead of the two connector type found on the 96 engine and up? (car is a 95 5spd from the factory)

Another thing to note is that when I unplug the neutral switch sensor from the engine harness, the rpm's stay at 1500.

 

As long as you have your connector plugged into the, I believe, right one (closest to the car center) of the two connectors it will work correctly. a 2 connector TPS is simply for automatics and has something to do with WOT and open/closed loops. I'm running a 2 connector on my 5 spd right now
