when hot cranks forever before start up..

as the title says, when its warm, and warm outside she cranks forever befiore she starts. i don't know what does that, but she always starts after cranking a little longer. i take care of the car, and its always done that since i owned her. something to do with the heat build up in the engine or an evap issue maybe??? i noticed that my evap valve in front of cannister whines when i run the ac, also whines in the cold weather too. anyone else have this issue?? any SOUND advice would be appreciated. ><><> thanks

i have the same problem with my car. when its either really hot or really cold outside it sometiems (for some reason its not everytime) takes a while to start, sometimes taking 2 key turns to get it running. when it is cold it works well to just press the gas a little as i first turn the key (dont know why since the engine has to be on for the fuel injectors to be working, i jsut tried it cuz i know that works on 2 strokes) any help?

I had the same problem, ran a (-) wire from the battery to one of the bolts of the starter, and one from the starter to the transmission bellhousing and that solved it all.

To me it does sound like the starter is on its way out....and take this sign now and not 6 weeks from now when you are stranded somewhere. Take the car to autozone and they will check it for free. It is sometimes hard to determine if the starter is bad, however they do go without much, if any, notice.

Did you ever figure out what your hot -start problem is? my grand dad is having the same problem, takes like 5 good tries to start when hot.
