HOw to make a custom valve cover

Hey I'm tryign to figure out how to paint my valve cover. I've got a 97 max gle which is neptune blue. I wanted to paint it red or yellow. Any suggestions?

Newbie here so please explain in detail

Take it off, sand it up, get the color engine paint you want, paint it, put it back on. Its not much more than that

Pretty much. You don't even really need high temp paint - I painted my front valve cover, the UIM and IACV out of sheer boredom a while back (month or two now), VC with regular black rustoleum and UIM/IACV with engine paint. They both still look good, no problems with the valve cover paint so far.

someone suggested a while back that when you paint your valve cover that you put vasalean on the letters instead of messing with tape, then once the paint is dry you can wipe of and paint wont stick to letters, for a cleaner look..., not sure how easy that will be, but I will let you know when I do mine in a few weeks...

I just put masking tape over the lettering and used a sharp X-acto knife to cut off the excess.

oops....i thought u meant valve cover....

edit: wait, do you mean the valve cover or the cover on the valve cover? if you mean valve cover i think you should polish it
