yellow headlight bulbs?
i got yellow fogs and planning to match them with the headlights by getting the yellow H4 bulbs. does anyone of you have tried or currently having yellow bulbs for headlights? are they legal and how good is the light comparing to white or halogen bulbs?

I live in the Pacific NW where it is pretty much constantly crappy weather, and I have gone thru my fair share of yellow headlight/foglight fads.
+1 for the yellow fogs, I have 3500K HID kit in my last car's fogs and it LOOKED awesome, but I only went for looks. I tried putting those 3500K HID's in the headlights (replacing the 5000K HIDs that were usually in there) and the lighting output was reduced considerably.
Basically, any color on a bulb will reduce it's lumens output. FACT. AND, colored bulbs don't improve your vision to the same extent in certain conditions as they produce less light overall. Yeah, yellow may glare less, but I never noticed that with my 3500K's because my 5000K's never really glared in the fog either. I just noticed reduced light output.
Yellows look good in fogs but reduce visibilty too much and look rice in the headlights.

I would suggest just buying higher output XtraVision bulbs at your auto store. I saw a article on headlight bulbs with Nokya Blues, Cool Blues, Silverstars, Regular Halogen, Xtravision and HIR's (a very special high output bulb, not HID) and the HIR's had best output but are not easy to find a reseller. The XtraVisions were the best off the shelf, regular halogens next, Silverstars were not so good as you would expect and of course the bluer bulbs just blew.

Yeah the parts counter wants to sell these to you because they are cheaply made chinese bulbs that are colorful and give the dealer a high profit margin because they are CHEAP.
Besides reducing your visibility at night, other drivers really don't get impressed by colored headlights on your car, we just ignore them. You may like the look of colored headlights, but don't legitimize the purchase by saying certain colors improve your vision. Colored halogen bulbs are only for looks, they perform terribly.
silverstars are not non-color if you look at the bulb its tinted blue. it just doesn't really show up as blue. And from personal experence read the watts on them and get it in writing the promise no melting of harness because if they are 100w ones they will melt it. i've also seen stock watts 45/55 or w/e to melt some harnesses as well.
its true the bulbs are extremely cheap, like $2-3 if they buy bulk of 50 pairs or so. And they turn around and sell for 20$ a pair VS OEM 15$ a bulb. kinda makes ppl want to save money but in return they aren't going to see much.

IMHO i had yellow nokya headlights for aobout 2 years.....i loved it its great at night and during the foggy and rainy season...the clarity was great I think compared to other colored bulb.
just make sure that you get quality bulbs!

i say since your gonna get HIDs down the line anyway, just either get HIDs now or start saving up for them. their definitely worth the money and they last soooooo much longer than halogen bulbs. trust...
