Not that I don't like this group, just time to move up and I am not a big 5th or 6th gen fan and the new G35's make the old ones look dated. Looking at a silver 2006 Audi A4 2.0T, 6 spd quattro, S-line pkg. It's a 4 banger turbo, but stock it is 200hp+ and can be easilly modded to 260hp. With AWD and Audi balance, handling will hammer. Too bad the car is a slug at 3500+ pounds, and is likely less reliable than a Max. Still deciding....

Thoughts?

Keep the max.... Throw in 2 grand for a 3.5 swap. Have me help you and then buy a 3.5 swap for me... LOL

I like the Infinity/Nissan line, G35s and 350z are awesome. Maximas are always pretty great, the brand new styles look pretty sick. Or look at the WRX... pretty reliable, gobs of power, affordable.

Well if you don't mind staying with the maxima, then definately drop in a 3.5. It'll probably feel like a different car for performance.

However if not, then I think the new A4's look great and if you have the money for it and want one, then go for it. You could probably also afford an older S4 too, so if you want the performance I'd recommend that route.

if its not a nissan than it rather be an Audi. My buddy had an 05 A4T quatro, unfortunately got into an accident. he switched to 98 max temporarily (not mine) and then to 06 A6. (not sure which model but close to base). Due nothing feels like an A6 not even the G35 but the performance for sure S4 is way above all this. Depends on what you prefer if you just want a quick and comfy car Here is how I wuld go: A6, A4, G35, BMW330.........

if you must leave the max market then i think that the A4 is a great alternative. the awd is a great feature as well as the combo of luxury, style and performance. if you're serious, even tho it'll be a new car, i'd still look into either how difficult/easy it is to fix/mod and how expensive parts may be. other than that, i think that the A4 is a great choice as and alternative to a nissan (Keep options open for the S4 tho hehe).

Oooo, S4? I'm not buying new, so is is a 12K '06 A4 or a 35K '04 S4. Hmm?

Getting kinda old so the relibility of the newer A4/B4 series looks good, plus the 2.0T is way modifiable engine wise, while still maintaining almost 28mpg. Not sure, the max is still running so well, has new Toyo Proxie 4's, H&R/Illuminas, and a CAI/SP2 setup, not to mention 112K miles. May delay my decision until I can afford a 2006 S4? By then maybe gas will be down

I don't think that gas will ever truly come down.

O in that case, the max is just broken in, lol. with 112k i'd say you could easily get another 100k out of it (as long as proper maintenance is performed). as long as the max still treats you well and gives you no unexpected issues, i think that it may be worth it to save for the 06 S4. it depends on the price difference tho and how long you would have to wait to have enough cash flow to get the S4. In the end, its your call. it seems like a very hard call to make, lol, so good luck!

A chip in a a4 should net around 40hp i belive. The a4 going to be arount 25 to 30k so you have a lot of choices. bmw 335i or a NSX
