Hi,
I just rolled over 212K on my 98 GLE. It's the best car I've ever owned. However, I had a minor fender bender over the weekend and it's been sitting for a few days. Today, the tow truck came to get it to carry it to the body shop and when I started it, I noticed the oil light on and some serious knocking in the engine. Also, the oil light was on. I immediately checked the oil level, after letting it cool down and the oil settle in the pan, and it was ok. There are no fluid leaks from the accident.

I'm thinking that I might need to change the oil pump and can't find any FAQ or How to. can anyone help?

BTW, I've used Mobil 1 10w30 and WIX oil filters for the past 100K miles.

Thanks,

in your "fender bender" .. was their any damage to the engine ? ... you say their was no oil leaks ... on an engine at your mileage your engine could be worn out ... excessive bearing clearances in your engine may cause your oil light to come on... also check your coolant if it is a chocolate milk color.. if so somewhere in your engine your oil is getting into a coolant passage.
