Hey...Quick Overdrive Button Question. When you turn OD Off, Thats when it enables 4th gear and u get more power right ? And when you turn it ON, thats when your cars slower, and more gas efficient. Right ? Thanks guys..........

OD button off (in out position with light on): 4th gear is not engaged. Car is left in third gear as the highest gear. The engine is 'reving' faster, so therefore, 'more power'.

OD button on (in n position with light out):4th gear is engaged, allowing for the tranny to 'spin' faster than the engine (hence over drive), allowing for better gas mileage. This is done by lowering engine speed.

So in conclusion, the light being on means you don't have 4th gear, the light being off means you do. You get better mileage with OD on. However, you will notice that the car tends to hunt between gears at about 35 mph if you leave it like that on the highway.

Yea! Ive felt that.(hunting for gears)..its annoying and slothful...who woulda thought that haveing only 3 gears engaged would be the fastest way...but it is. Definatally noticable. Thanks alot for your help medicsonic!

BTW, Were you the one who raced the 5-speed ? How'd that turn out for u ?

To tell you the truth, and not blow my own horn, most of the time it comes down to a good driver. I regularly take out other vehicles that most people would say, 'You have no chance against them', with a 8000 lb. TurboDiesel. Comes down to knowing the vehicle and knowing your surroundings. Sprint is a good driver in a fast car. It is quite possibly (likely ?) that he will win.

Yea. Auto's have good chances on the street against manuals. Chances are the manual driver doesnt know how to race, and will screw up. But you know that, and i know that. With all this bein said, Good Luck.
