after some unexpected problems i finally got my tranny out of the max. my throwout bearing went on me. the metal was in pieces when i pulled it out. Where should i get a new throwout bearing? Do I need a stonger one with my Spec stage 2 clutch and ss clutch line? I was considering getting it from Autozone or should I stick with the stealership? I had replaced it about a year ago when i did my clutch, so was surprised to see it in pieces.

If the one at the parts store is made by Timken, SKF, NSK, Koyo, then it doesn't matter where you buy it from. Nissan does not make bearings. My exedy clutch and ACT clutch kits both came with SKF made throwout bearings.

Not sure if it's too late but take a good look at your pressure plate while you're in there. If the bad throwout bearing wore grooves into the ends of the springs on the pressure plate then even after replacing the throwout bearing you're going to hear a lot of noise. Just wanted to throw that out there

always get and use the oem throw out bearing. I though it would be a smart move to use the throw out bearing that comes with a given clutch, cause you would think its made to handle what ever that clutch is suitable for.

After many talk with many people, oem so far has out lasted any aftermarket. OEM with my spec stage 2 and no problems.

I find this interesting. What brand name is an OEM bearing?
