Short Throw

Just got my Nismo STS in, I paid like $30 for it, it feels, and looks solid (i'm a machinist) I'm taking it to work tomorow to do some inspections on the welds, But for the price, i think it's a knock off but it does have Nismo stamped on it. Question is, pending my weld inspections --- Should I trust this thing not to break?

From what I've read and I can't remember if it's the "nismo" or "cosmo" racing sts... but one of those will hit the 5 speed trim in 1st, 3rd, and 5th. It really pushes the location of the shifter too far forward and then the stock shifter trim is useless.

As I said, I don't remember which brand it was... Hope it's not yours.
and btw, nismo doesn't make a short shifter for the maxima.
I wonder if Nismo makes one for the 91-04 Sentroid? or 93-97 Altima, 91-93 nx1600/2000? or if they are all going to be the rip-offs?
My B&M says it's the same part.
something to check into.

I wouldn't trust it unless you want to replace a broken one while on the road so bring your tool box. There was a thread a year ago or so and the org member had to have the car towed home. Unless you can reweld it I wouldn't trust it.

I doubt if it breaks a weld especially since you are a machinist. I can't speak for the alignment issue but here is the Stillen unit (it is accurate afaik):

Tong ... I bought the same shifter (e-bay I am guessing) and it is stamped Nismo on the bottom ... right? I looked it over quite a bit before I installed it, but it feels and seems good. As for the trim being hit, I fit it both ways (arm forward, arm back) and I put it in the way it didn't hit, can't recall which way ... sorry. I topped mine off with a Razo solid aluminium round ball - love it! I noticed a nicer feel to the shift after install, and I don't try and catch 4th and hit 2nd anymore.
