plastic connector for coolant hoses on firewall
Last night at the track some how this piece mounted on the firewall completely cracked off and spewed all of my coolant all over the place causing a huge smokey mess. I figure the piece would just be a cheap tube that is only there to keep from having too long of a rubber hose from the coolant hardline to the heater core. I went to the dealership to buy another one and they wanted a whopping 120 bucks. He said its called a "control unit" or something and must have a valve in it? I havent checked just yet but i figured i'd ask here first. Can i just go buy a copper adaptor or something to connect these 2 rubber hoses and be done with it? or do i need to get this stupid part. I dont necessarily want to just go get another old brittle one that is just gonna crack again...you know?
I currently have the heater core bypassed.

thanks i was trying to find it on a similar drill down website. but I dont think its in that diagram. what i'm talking about is actually a connector. It is between 2 rubber hoses..it doesnt actually come from inside the cabin..it is mounted to the firewall behind the intake manifold and connects the rubber hose from the motor to the line that runs into the cabin. Below it is the return hose held by just a bracket.
i'll take a picture in a moment after i eat dinner

That's the water control cock. I've come across two types: one with a valve inside, and one without. Seems like A32's equipped with manual climate control have the one with the valve, and auto climate control equipped maxima's come without the valve. Either way, it's not cheap. I remember buying one for my father's car and being really surprised at how expensive it was.

haha "thats two words"
so the water **** is unnecessary? I have auto climate control and it seems like a straight tube to me. I'd like to replace it with something more sturdy, the only way i'll put another nissan brand plastic one in there is if it doesnt cost me alot of money. I'm gonna try to replace it asap because i'm running like 90 percent water in the radiator right now.

if you wanted you could buy the newer 4th gen hose and have one complete hose. never have to worry about conector leaking or having that extra eye junk around

Whoa seriously? Mine definently was just a connector, I went and bought a piece of steel to connect the hoses for now. I'm going to go back to the dealership and ask about the hose that goes straight through. I can't believe they wanted that much for it...I hope the hose doesn't cost too much.

Sorry to bring up such a old topic but this happen to me tonight and I just want to know can I just use the hose from the 96-99 instead to buying the plastic piece again I really don't want to breake the nipple on the heater core taking off the hose clamps

It was just a plastic tube nothing in it and I'm not sure what you mean by manual controls.do you think if I try to replace that hose the heater core nipple is gonna break because that clamp is really on there rusted so I may have to be a little ruff with it
