Surging/Misfire? At Idle
Surging/Misfire? At Idle
So every once in a while when I start up it seems like the car is misfiring and I have to rev at 2k to keep it alive then after about 5 seconds it stops. Also latley i'm running so rich that at a stoplight I can see black exhuast gases come out of my exhuast. Also latley i've been having problems with hard starting. I ran a scanner about 3 weeks ago and EVERYTHING in my car is okay. Co2 sensors are fine, knock retard. Everything is perfect I had 3 Master ASE Certified teachers come over and look at the scanner and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Has anybody ever had any of these type of symptoms?
I'm bringing it into the shop again tommorrow to run the scanner and possibly an injector clean. Also i'm gonna do a resistance test on the Fuel Pump to see if it's out of specs. Has anybody had any symptons like this at all? and what did you do to correct it?
i had a similar problem. had to pump the gas to keep it going for the first several seconds. also had a real rough idle after driving for a while. the car engine would sometimes drop down to 400 rpm or go up to 1200. Changed spark plugs to ngk platinums and changed the injector (well i had a code for a misfire tho)... solved everything. If you dont have any codes i would say concentrate on the pump but def check the plugs first cuz if one of them is (k don't know how to say this in english) but if it has burned on oil and is really black then thats your problem - check the injector and the plugs. good luck man
This may help you out.Do this test:after dark ,start your car and turn on your headlights.Rev to about 5k ,and keep the throttle there. What you need to look at while you do this is your temp gauge. If on the way to the usual middle your instrument gauge starts to flicker plus fuel pump hiccups, this means your ECTS is gone .Its also a ghost code like the knock sensor,as I didnt find it until I checked my CEL for something else .The ECTS tells the ecu how hot the engine is,and if the ecu gets bad data ,it cuts the fuel supply, thus causing random and embarassing stall outs.Worst case,im completely wrong and thats one less cause to worry about .
the ECTS was perfect on the scanner over an hour of testing the degree changed maybe 5 degrees. ANd yes I did mean O2 sensors. My mistake i've been thinking alot about paintball since its the summer. I'm thinking FP, or FPR. But I will test the fuel injectors and scope them at school tomorrow and see how it turns out.
Edit: Switched to NGK Platinums about 6 months ago...along with a new Napa Performance
fuel filter. Oil changes every 2500 miles also along with a new knock sensor harness. The only thing I could think it would be would be the coils or the fuel. Which i'm pretty sure are two major things when dealing with cars.
