00-01 engine swap question

Ok so here is the deal, I will try to make this short and to the point. I have an engine and transmission from an 01 Infiniti I30 with 46k miles on them. Also I have a 96 Maxima with 210k miles and was wondering if it would be a direct fit? I mean I know it will fit, just wondering if the sensors are the same? And the ecu and other little stuff. Anyone who knows a little bit about this would be of great help! Thanks

p.s the engine and tranny are for sale, but i think I am better of just using them myself!

Use the free search as this has been covered before.

in short, it's not as in depth as the 3.5 swap, but it is easier. Also, no the ECU is not the same, but MANY (not all) of the sensors are the same. With the free earch, you could gain some insight.

FYI: Digital Alchemy did this swap as well as a few others. Thought it might help in your search.

a few months ago. Search for de-k swap, and 00vi swap, those two things should give you some insight, it's not that bad and you're much better off swapping that into your car as opposed to selling it

Everything should line right up except for the injectors. You have to snip the injector wires from the stock harness and splice them into the DE-K fuel rail. I have this swap done to my car but I'm using a tranny from a 98 I30.

Pretty much everything lines right up. There is one sensor (I forgot which one) that you have to remove some plastic off of in order for it to fit.

how does the car run? I have read that some people that do the swap have starting and idling issues.

I used the DE cam sensor and crank (bell housing side) sensor.

My DE-K starts and idles perfectly now. Most problems people have with starting and idle are vacuum, IAC, and TPS adjustment issues. It's just a matter of working some minor bugs out.

did you use the 5th gen trans? IF not, has anyone used the 5th gen transmission in a 4th gen along with the engine. And does anyone know if they differ? The 4 speed Automatic that is. ????

When I did the swap I used my 4th gen automatic but now I have an I30 5-spd in there. I would think that the 5th gen auto would work without any problems, but don't take my word for it.

one more quick question! This engine does not have EGR. So how would I match that up with the 4th gen egr system?

If he already has the DEK, it would be best to do it, since he already has it.

a lot better it is not my friend! I have not once heard of a VQ30 burn ridiculous amount of oil also as the others have said I have the VQ30de and the tranny and was wondering about the whole egr mess. This motor does not have egr on the rear header as all the 4th gens DO. so what do I do? Do i need the no egr ecu?
