Issues with Bose - Repair or Replace?

Lost the audio portion of my Bose unit yesterday. All fuses and circuit breakers check out ok. Unit will turn on, but no audio is coming out. I ran thru the tests in the owner's manual and all fuses and circuit breakers check out ok. The only thing I couldn't check was the radio output voltage since I didn't know where to measure.

How hard is it to remove the unit so I can get someone to look at it? I saw the writeup on the stickies about a similar problem, but will probably take it to a pro in case there are other issues.

Also, any recommendation on replacement units that would equal or be better? The Bose unit has been great until recently. I would want something that would fit well and not be a huge hassle to install/re-wire.

Get the Bose out of the Pathy, search on it.. It has MP3 playback and 6cd IIRC. Looks 1000000x better too.

If you have the money, get rid of the bose completely and you will be quite happy

yes there is a writeup on how to remove and fix your bose radio by another orger who solved the problem. I dont have the links saved to my favorites on this computer but I will post them when I get home if anyone else does not by that time. Its pretty simple. Its just a couple of resistors and in my case one of the capacitors. Took a couple of hours. Didn't think i could do it because I dont have any soldering experience but it's quite easy. Cost me 89cents for the capactior. But that was just my radio.

I had th same problem with my bose HD. I replace it with an aftermarket. The signal of radio and the sounds are much better than the factory bose HU.

check to see if there are voltages coming out of headunit for each speaker you should have AC voltage if not its dead. which is very common. cheapest is replace a HU for another stock one 100$ or go for a pathfinder for 200-300$ or aftermarket for ???

get rid of the bose!!!! i was afraid of doing it but then invested around 600 bucks over time and now the system is amazing. to remove the stereo will take you a grand total of about 15 mins and to put in a new one and wire new speakers up to it is another 2 hrs max... if you got the money replace it!

Saw the writeup..great job! I'm a little leary of pulling everything out. Is the radio just held in by 4 bolts once you get the decorative trim off? BTW...what's the easiest way to get the decorative trim off?

Is this will be straight replacement or plug and play? Just wondering, it does look nice
