97 se hard to start

the only way i can get this thing to start is to pat the gas and keep turning key. when tested for codes it throws them randomly. like it will throw a code for the egr. i cllear that and retest. egr does not show back up but anther code will. if i clear the next one it will not show back up but another one will. im thinkin its the harness but have nothing other than the code issue to go by. once its running it fine. real smooth. help

Use free search, a while back I read a thread having similar issues, they ended up adjusting their TPS, clean ur throttle and IACV.

any popping or backfiring. try cleaning the IACV to start, if not, then check your ground wires. i had both issues 2 weeks ago, the ground wire made the most difference.
