Suspension questions.

if this is thread is too newbish then pls let me know...but i need to know what i need exactly and what exactly are good parts for my suspension.

rear: KYB AGX

front:Tokico Illumina w/ KYB strut boots w/ integrated bearings and KYB strut mounts...

i heard that KYB strutmounts are practically OEM. Is this true?

any other suggestions?

would having mismatching struts cause any problems?

would changing struts make my car run smoother or do i need new springs too?

Everything I've read has led me to believe that AGX are pretty firm struts in general and Illuminas are pretty soft. I wouldn't mismatch them front to rear like that if I were you. Depending on your choice in springs, either your fronts are going to be underdamped and the front of your car is going to bounce when you hit substantial bumps (rather scary behavior sometimes, and makes suspension damage more likely), or your rear is going to be overdamped and will feel harsh but uncontrolled. Probably a bit of both.

If you're running stock springs, get rid of the AGX and go GR-2 (can't handle substantial drops though) or Illuminas all around. Or, if you can afford it, go for Konis.

grh...i just bought some AGX's for the rears....

and yes...i'm running on springs.

changed my mind on mismatching struts, however are AGX's that bad- i mean...why are they practically incompatible with stock springs?

update: bought some AGX's for the fronts and Rears.

running probably on stock springs..

what do you guys supposed i should get when it comes to strut boots and mounts?

i go out in the desert alot and i'd like to have SOME protection...

hence the reason why i need a bit firmer suspension.

lets put it this way, i got gr2's all around and maxspeed all around. i;m also replacing the strut mounts with oem and i heard kyb's suck (break too easy ) i'm doing strut insolator bearings as well as spring insolaters and boots. all oem cause i want good fitment. and, i only have a 1.5 drop in front and 1.3 in rear and no problems, car handles 10 fold better than it ever did with old shot oem parts. and, kyb's are lifetime warranty from e-bay seller i got them from. hope this helps
