Help question on changing belts Tension bolt
Help Changing Belts Tension bolt
Hi and thank you for your help on the belt info. I changed them today and it is not so ez. 2 hours + but it got done . ONE Question we removed the bolt for the alternator belt ((Tension bolt i believe it is called))and the bolt is curved at the end is this how it is? I went to 2 local nissan dealershtis and they both had no idea. The bolt is about 4-5 inches and it curves at the end? thanks for any input. I really have no idea how we could have bent it?
just snapped my tensioner bolt
i actually just snapped/sheared the tensioner bolt on my 96. thankfully it still has sufficient tension that the belts don't slip until i can replace it.
so yeah, you can bend them just from tightening it.

Scroll down to figure 14.
This is a picture of the idler pulley assembly.
The tensioner presses down on the pulley as you turn the nut on top.
Then you tighten the pulley in place in the center of the pulley.
Does this help?
