I was wondering which exhaust provides the biggest boost of horsepower between Stillen, HKS, orApex I.

IMO, I say go with a custom setup. Not only is it cheaper, but it costs less Really though, I had the Stillen exhaust for a week and sold it cause it was too loud for me. I then went to my local muffler shop and made a custom exhaust from scratch. A Custom B-pipe and universal muffler. Works just as good as the Stillen. But that's just the route I took. I've heard good stuff about the Apex exhaust as well as the Greddy.

custom exhaust

Smooth -

I'm due for an exhaust system soon. Can you tell me what you replaced, what the cost was, what your objectives were? How long have you had the system? Does it meet your objectives? Who did you have do the work? Any hints you can give me are appreciated. Also, is it stainless?

thanks

I just finished with mine

I have a Stillen Y-pipe, Courtesy SS B-pipe, and 5th gen muffler. I wanted a system that yeild more power (even on the low end, more mileage, and keep the car relatively quiet. The reason for the 5th gen muffler, because while the y-pipe and b-pipe tremendously increase the flow of the system, backpressure is needed on the low end; without it you will lose low end power. The 5th gen muffler uses a variable flow system that maintains pressure at low RPMs and opens a flap to the other tailpipe when pressure is increased. I have yet to test at what RPM the flap opens, but I'll post the info when I test it.

Results...definitely more power (even on the low end) probably 25 HP peaked gained, and the car is not any louder than stock. The sound is deeper and it growls when started, but I'm very happy with it. The whole thing set me back $375, but I waited for some really good deals. In the future, I may complete the system and get an RT cat. I've heard it reduce the noise further while increase power.

Greddy Catback

I have the Greddy Catback, really enjoy the aggressive sound. As for power, there may be a small increase, but not 6-8 as advertised.
