When the car is off or on. I press the clutch, and almost all the way it makes a sueeking sound from the engine area. I know where its coming from: Next to the battery, if u look down u see the this black thing that moves inside and out the transmission when u press the clutch. Thanks.

I have a squeeking clutch as well. I took it to Courtesy Nissan but their service isn't very helpful. I'm not sure what exactly is squeeking, but I think it's something related to the clutch cable.

I went to the dealer today to ask about it and apparently they were not helpful either, i see that little **** in the engine compartment that moves when i press in the clutch, kinda feels like the clutch cable it rubbing against something, ALSO after my horrible 2 hour traffic jam both ways to the beach and back now when i start at low LOW LOW rpms i can hear a clicking noise from my clutch but there is no slippage or anything when i am driving normally it works fine but it STILL squeeks.

Your 4Gen Maxima has a hydraulic clutch actuator. There is no clutch cable.

In another thread you declare your intention to buy a manual. That's a good idea. It will help you make your own repairs. It will also help you identify parts by their correct name when you post on this forum. For instance "... this black thing that moves..." is probably the the clutch slave cylinder pushrod or the clutch release lever.

This squeak is probably not a symptom of a problem. It is a nuisance, an annoyance, but nothing more. However, if you want to silence it, you could apply some oil or grease to the tip of the pushrod where it presses on the outer end of the clutch release lever. There is a good photo of these parts in the Haynes repair manual, page 8-3. If that doesn't get rid of the squeak it is probably coming from inside the clutch housing... the ball stud upon which the release lever pivots or the clutch pressure plate itself. These parts are not accessible without removing the transaxle. You may have to "just live with it".

If you ever replace your clutch you should carefully lubricate four points on the clutch release lever. See the photos in Haynes, page 8-6.
