Check www.custommaxima.com for group deals there.

I believe www.ultimateZ.com also has them. Talk with .org member Coz.

You can get cheaper ones that claim to work as well as the Jim Wolf Technology or Stillen intake, but I'd recommend one of those units if you're just going to get an intake. Those two manufactuers have nice machined aluminum air horns/velocity stacks that help smooth the air flow as it enters the MAF, thereotically giving more power with the smoother higher velocity air flow.

I think that the Stillen one is around $175, but it comes with a K&N?, WAY overpriced and the JWT popcharger is around $100, but it doesnt even come with a name brand K&N cone filter! Thats why I cannot justify the $100 its priced at...Id rather make my own with a K&N cone like the Stillen and only spend $45-$55 tops instead of $175 or $100....just the way I see it...

I definitely agree with you. I just got my 99 Max SE this weekend and made an adapter out of the top portion of the air box (found one at a buddy's junk yard). I straightened the gold ring opening and attached a Funnel Ram K&N Filter (RS Akimoto from old Prelude). I used plastic piping brace to hold it in place. Boy does this make a huge difference in sound and power.

Cone Filter

Is the cone filter just as easy as pop it in and go or do you need any type of adapter to get it to stay on there?

You need to fabricate an adapter to the MAS. That is why I chose to use a stock air box and cut it out. It fits exactly because it is stock. When you remove the top part of the air box from the MAS, on the inside you will see a gold ring, which needs to be straightened. Then use a hose clamp to connect the filter to your adapter.

If you want to see what a funnel ram filter looks like, here it is on ebay:

I recommend this style because it eliminates the hissing sound from regular K&N filter cones.

In order to attach cone filter to the MAF an intake adapter is neccesary, Summit Racing has a 3" Nissan intake adapter for $12.99, and they have free shipping--www.summitracing.com. They are great, free shiping and excellent service. I'm gonna order one soon. Or as speedy-t did go to a junkyard and find one. A Funnel Ram K&N Filter is exactly what I want...speedy-t do you have any pics of your setup? thanks

No pics of it yet. It is not as nice looking as the stuff that you can buy but nothing can replace the feeling of doing something yourself and being free.

The one that I have is from Racing Sports Akimoto www.racingsportsakimoto.com. From the looks of it they have changed the construction of the filter as in materials. I have the original design when I bought it in 1993. Shows how durable and reusable they are. I don't know how much they are now but they were $35 when I bought mine.
