That's a huge sig
http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.ph...77&postcount=1

No intake is worth the price if you're broke/hungry. It's worth is up to you. If you find a PR knock off for 30$, hell with it, I'd call that a win.

Search before you get flamed and so on and so forth.

What I seen around the org is most people have just the filter part replaced with one of those K&N filters or those pepboys one.

Also your sig is too big, resize it.

The PR style intake is the only way to go unless you stay stock.

Dont mean to sound like an idiot, but when you say PR style is that Place Racing? And could you give me some insight on the positioning and benefit to it?

Pr = Place Racing. It goes into the tire well, getting cooler air. Cooler air = more dense air, more O2, more combustion. (I think all thats right...)

Ok, now my noob question...these intakes...to they also go into the tire well? I mean, it doesnt seem like there is enough tube there to reach over and into it...but theyre called PR style, so I am asking...thanks!

i would deffiinatley recomend this mod. i notice a loss of low end but a huge increase in high end. go to k2motor.com and look at their 4th gen intakes.. i bought one for 50 bucks. has good welding, comes with filter( which im using till its dirty then ill k&n) and i have not had a problem yet

& to MOHFpro90: you have to remember that the maf is used which adds a little bit more to the length

what it looks liek without batery and fusebox moved

where the filter is relocated to

what it looks like after batery back in and fuse box moved 1 inch

The filter might suck but the intake design is decent for 30 USD.

Injen is not a good intake on these cars. Plain and simple. Get the PR knock off and be good.

i bought one off of ebay, the P R style one... looked at these pics at
http://www.geocities.com/nismorg/Maxima/cai.html
for an idea. drilled a 3.1/8s hole was about 96% close tho, used silicone to fill the gaps. threw a K&N on it and man.. IMO do it with a ypipe then ull know what i am talking about..still happy with it...

just throwing this one out there...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-99...spagenameZWDVW

compared to

http://www.k2motor.com/afcmax95.html

still being sold from K2motor.com of course the shipping on the one off ebay would add up but there would still be a high shipping for the one off their site too.

My 2 cents:

I took off the "silencer" box under the battery and put a screen over the elbow that connected to it. With my K&N drop in filter I have been pleased.

There is no good reason to hack a hole in the wheel well and have a filter next to your tire... especially for a slight HP gain at top RPM and a moderate torque loss down low.

Is there an intake that sits under the battery? With an insulated/ reflective heat shield on the engine side you would get cooler air and get a slight "RAM" effect (velocity increase) from having it exposed to the turbulent air up front, which I beleive is partly responsible for the power loss in the lower RPM's with the CAI.

Just my thoughts. I won't touch the intake until I can afford to get my hands on an Cattman header/ exhaust, and a Greddy E-Manage Ultimate...

it may look the same but some ppl have complained of the quality of the welds on some of the ebay ones.. so im saying k2motor has no quality issues and is only another 10 or so bucks

and also there is no one that goes under the battery, there is one that goes behind the rad but that defeats the whole purpose of cai. also there is more then a slight gain and high rpm and more gain up top then loss down low. and the loss for low power on the cai incaused by the bends in it im pretty sure

i have the k2motor cai on it right now, it shouldnt be different on the 97. i drilled a 3 inch hole and the pipe didint quite fit so i took a drill bit and went around and around the hole untill my pipe just squeezed in there. there is barley any air gap and the little that their is wont make a difference

Tmcgradyfann1: the shipping was free from k2... so i paid 50 total.( no duties)
ebay one is 18 plus 22 for the intake = 40 plus any duties for canadians(N)

Spend a little more and get the Bomz intake for about $50 shipped. I got mine from this seller:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BOMZ-...spagenameZWDVW

A while ago, I bought a random short ram on ebay for like $10, and the piping was flimsy, welds were horrible - there was actually a hole in the weld where the IACV hose was supposed to connect .

As for the Bomz CAI, I was running it as a short ram b/c i didn't have the time to drill the hole for the CAI tubing. I did it tonight though. Installation only took 30 minutes. The piping and the welds are good, solid quality. No fitment issues, and the IATS fits snug in the pre drilled hole/grommet on the midpipe. the template that i found on this site worked perfectly as far as lining up the hole for the tubing.
